On your adventure, you will walk through a pristine rainforest gallery that is home of 550 species of tropical birds, 13 species of monkeys and 1,000 species of beautiful butterflies. With our extensive knowledge of the Amazon wildlife and biodiversity we can give Sani Lodge guests the true experience of an Ecuadorian Amazon jungle tour.
We have incredible wildlife at Sani – a nearby biostation has recorded world records in the amount of tree, frog and insect species found in the area.You can also see ground mammals and certain species of monkeys.
BEST TIMES TO VISIT THE AMAZON
In the Oriente of Ecuador where Sani Lodge is located it is usually almost as hot as on the coast and it rains during most months. June to August are the wettest months, with little regional variation.
CLAY LICKS IN THE AMAZON
Visit the parrot-clay lick at Yasuní National Park for a wonderful view of hundreds of parrots searching for a gap to land and eat the earth. Here you will see Mealy Amazon, Yellow-crowned, Orange-winged and Blue-headed parrots.
INDIGENOUS CULTURE NEAR SANI LODGE
At Sani Isla Community Center you will be able to visit Sani Wuarmis Kichwa Woman organization´s native house to get a taste of how a typical Kichwa family lives. Enjoy their food, drinks, customs, and culture of the Sani Isla Community and learn how the lifestyle of the locals is environmentally sustainable.
YASUNI NATIONAL PARK
Hike the south of the Napo River inside Yasuní National Park considered for scientists like the most biodiverse area in the world, here, some species that cannot be found in the north might be spotted: golden–mantled tamarins and spider monkeys, Blue and yellow macaws and with a bit of luck a close encounter with white-lipped or collared peccaries.

Our territory represents a natural corridor for an amazing variety of Birds species, so we are proud to say that coming to our Lodge is like going to Birds Watchers Heaven. There had been found more than 550 species in our land and we are constantly finding new species to add to our list.
Our virgin and unexplored terrain, present some exclusive highlights such as the Paradise Jacamar, Rufous Potoo, Long Tailed Potoo, Crested Eagle and others. These remarkable species can be seen at our Lodge with the help of our expert native guides.
