Future tourism
On 12 November, our community participated jointly with the International Technological University (ITI) in the Future Tourism competition, organized by the Ecuadorian Ministry of Tourism. The community was represented by its Sani Lodge and Sani Warmi ventures.
The project, entitled “Tourism and Productive Development in Sani Isla with Augmented Reality”, was presented with the aim of strengthening community tourism and the cultural identity of the Ecuadorian Amazon through technological innovation and the active participation of community members.
The main themes of the event were based on a gastronomic route featuring traditional flavors, the creation of a production laboratory using sweet potatoes and plantains with sustainable production practices, and entrepreneurship. Furthermore, the mobile application with augmented reality will allow users to view wildlife in 3D. In addition, training will be provided for women in the community in bio-entrepreneurship using new technologies, with the aim of boosting the local economy.
The national final was held on 12^(th) November, with six universities from the provinces of Pichincha, Guayas, and Manabí participating. The Community was declared the winner, receiving a prize of USD 25,000, which will be invested in the proposed objectives. It is anticipated that this will lead to significant improvements in service quality for our customers.
